Insurance Coverage

Artman’s rehabilitation services are covered by Medicare, Blue Cross and some HMO’s. Upon discharge from the hospital, most insurances will initially certify a five day stay at a skilled nursing facility, which includes payment for skilled therapies and room and board. If the patient is progressing and would benefit from additional therapy, most insurances will continue to re-certify in five day increments. Therapy is provided a minimum of five days per week as per the individualized care plan. Assessments, evaluations and consults are available seven days per week. It is important to note that there is a difference between what most insurances cover for therapy in an acute-care setting (hospital) vs. a long-term care setting. This is not specific to Artman, but is true for any long-term care setting: one hour of therapy per day is the standard.
